With political campaigns heating up in the U.S., two quotes come to mind as more and more noise gets captured as sound bites:

“One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics, is that you end up being governed by your inferiors” ~Plato

and

“It’s not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do” ~Molière

These dead white guys weren’t so dumb.
