…because some thoughts are worth remembering
What if the universe if not made up of atoms but of tiny stories? I enjoy the Tiny Stories series not only because many artists collaborate to create the books but because they are extremely short stories (more than the “six word novels” but usually just a sentence) that evoke deep emotions, puts words to sensations you’ve forgotten, and gives you permission to wander in your own imagination.
I think of tiny stories, but they are just premises. They don’t go anywhere. I’m content with just the beginning. Then I wonder how the story might evolve, what the consequences are. But mostly, I’m just happy coming up with a premise because it then gives me the freedom to select any ending.
What if the Little Prince (as in Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) meets Niccolò Machiavelli, the author of The Prince? Or what if the Little Prince were the Prince from Machiavelli’s book?
Perhaps it’s my love of premises (and the anticipated joy that comes with subsequent dreaming) that I like science fiction, but don’t actually read science fiction books.
