A Traveler’s Thought: On Reinventing Oneself

Being a foreigner is a priceless state of being. The humiliation that comes with that identity also affords a level of freedom (because no one knows or cares who you are, only whether you can speak the language) so you have less inhibition to try new things…things you may not have chosen in your homeland. One night I tried Bhutanese meditation (at a Tibetan Buddhist center) for the first time. It was exquisite! It’s an opportunity to both find and reinvent yourself.  (from May 2014)
