On Drafting Speeches

1. Think of what 3 things you want the audience to come away with/what you want to convey

2. Thread them into a story (create an overarching framework)

3. Write in short sentences, minimize subordinate clauses

4. Avoid including information that does not contribute to your main points

5. When the draft is done, read it out loud at normal volume and speed to work out the timing and to ensure the phrasing is natural
